Cheshire Land Trust Annual Meeting Set For Next Week

The 53rd Annual Meeting of the Cheshire Land Trust will be held on Tuesday, April 5. The meeting will start at 7 p.m. at a new venue — Cheshire Craft Brewing, 125 Commerce Court. There will be a brief business meeting followed by the evening’s speaker.

“The Trust is very pleased to have Cheshire resident Richard DeLuca return,” said Bill Stanley, president of the Trust. “Richard is an expert on the history of transportation in Connecticut. He spoke to the Trust several years ago, focusing on Cheshire’s canal and railroad in the early 19th century.”

He has just released his second book, “Paved Roads and Public Money,” which tracks the 19th century bicycle craze up through the impact of the internal combustion engine on Connecticut, its economy and environment.

Copies of DeLuca’s two books will be available for purchase the night of the program. Don’t miss this opportunity to sit and take a ride back in time while supporting a local business. Cheshire was a major player in the state’s transportation history and this is a great way to learn more about it and learn more about the Cheshire Land Trust.
