St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 59 Main St., is hosting the kickoff of the Active Hope Action Team’s “Contain & Sustain” campaign today, July 27, at 7 p.m., to encourage people to cut down on food waste and single-use plastic.
“Contain & Sustain” is raising funds to purchase 1,000 compact, reusable silicone takeaway food containers so that they can be distributed freely to those who will use them. When the campaign reaches its $3,000 donation goal, Sustainable CT’s Community March Fund will award a matching $3,000 grant.
Key supporters and other participants in the campaign will share more details about this effort. Light refreshments will be served.
The Active Hope Action Team started as an interfaith book club that evolved to a group of passionate everyday citizens who want to encourage local education and action to mitigate climate change. It is open to all and meets alternate Thursdays at 7 p.m. at St. Peter’s.
