The Cheshire Historical Society needs treasurer and inventory volunteers.
The Society has had many years of service from the current Treasurer, Shirley Brady, who now wants to take a well-deserved break. The group is looking for someone with basic financial acumen and bookkeeping skills to join its Board as the next Treasurer. The amount of time dedicated each month to responsibilities is generally five hours. The Treasurer will be able to work with the accountant and QuickBooks (or the person’s software of choice). “It’s really not that much work and I will be staying involved,” said Brady, “but I’m ready to pass this responsibility on, perhaps to someone more acquainted with online banking tools.”
Those interested in helping to ensure the Society’s financial well-being can email cheshirehistorical@gmail.com with “Treasurer” in the subject line.
The Historical Society is also looking for one or more volunteers to join its team for a short time to help reconcile the inventory that’s been completed with both recent and historic accession logs (some handwritten in the 1950s and ’60s). Society President Cayetana Navarro says, “Our teams have found some incredible things in our collection and anyone who wants to be a part of this project won’t be disappointed.”
For those who enjoy spreadsheets and consider themselves dogged detectives, this could be just the project. High school students looking for a service project or just anyone with some extra time to spare will be helping out tremendously and contributing to the future of the Society.
