The Cheshire Community YMCA is offering a free, 12 week, small group fitness program called Livestrong at the Y designed for adult cancer survivors age 18 and over.
This program is under the guidance of specially trained health and wellness staff.
The program is designed to help those affected by cancer gain strength, endurance and function lost through treatment and to gain emotional support and self-esteem.
This program is open to members as well as non-members of the YMCA. Classes take place on Mondays and Wednesdays, from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. The class format consists of cardio, strength, balance and flexibility segments and is tailored to fit each individual’s needs.
Each participant is given a free 12-week full YMCA membership and may use any of the Cheshire Community YMCA facilities during its hours of operation.
The next Livestrong 12-week session begins Sept. 18, and ends Dec. 15. Space is limited.
