Luke Demsey Earns Eagle Scout Designation

Cheshire’s Luke Demsey achieved the rank of Eagle Scout on Dec. 15 of last year at his Court of Honor ceremony held at the Cheshire Park and Recreation Center. He is a member of Boy Scout Troop 92 of the Mad River District, chartered to the First Congregational Church of Cheshire.

To earn the rank of Eagle, a Scout must earn at least 21 merit badges and demonstrate leadership and community service by organizing and carrying out a service project. Luke earned a total of 41 merit badges for which he received an additional four Eagle Palms. Luke’s project, which was completed on July 31, 2019, was to move and refurbish the information kiosk at the town owned Boulder Knoll Open Space property. In addition to refurbishing the kiosk he added a bench and solar light feature.

Luke is a junior at the CT River Academy Magnet School in East Hartford where he is a member of the National Honor Society and plays intramural basketball. He is also a member of the Scouting National Honor Society, the Order of the Arrow, Mattatuck Chapter of the Tschitani Lodge.
