The Scarecrows Are Heading Back To Cheshire

The Scarecrows Are Coming to Cheshire! is an event co-sponsored by Artsplace, Cheshire Chamber of Commerce, Cheshire Public Library and the Cheshire Parks & Recreation Department. Registration deadline is Sept. 26.

Make a scarecrow representing your hobby, family, organization, business, or anything you’d like. Judges will be looking for creativity and originality. Choose between displaying on your own property (home or business) or a public spot assigned by event coordinators. Scarecrows must be on display by Sunday, Oct. 3, at 6 p.m., and should be displayed until Sunday, Oct. 31.

Everyone is welcome to enter the scarecrow competition and all scarecrows must be displayed within Cheshire. All entrants must submit a $25 entrance fee; proceeds from the contest will benefit Ball & Socket Arts and Cheshire Human Services’ efforts to support residents in need.

Event organizers will take photos of all scarecrows, beginning on Oct. 4, for a slideshow that will be available on the Cheshire Public Library website. An online map will be available for those who wish to explore the town and view all the scarecrows.

Be sure to comply with all contest rules as they pertain to construction, installation and removal.
