Elderly/Disabled Tax Relief Benefits Being Maintained


Cheshire taxpayers participating in the Homeowners’ Elderly/Disabled Circuit Breaker Tax Relief Program and Homeowners’ Elderly/Disabled Freeze Relief Program do not need to submit their biennial filing. Current benefits will be automatically maintained through the next biennial cycle.

The suspension of this filing requirement and the continuation of current benefits was ordered by Governor Lamont in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

New applicants should contact the Assessor’s office at 203.271.6620 to make arrangements to submit proof of income, which must be filed by May 15, 2020. Taxpayers must by over the age of 65 by December 31, 2019 with a maximum income of $59,900 to be eligible.
