Classes officially came to a close for the Cheshire School District last week (June 11), and while no formal graduation ceremony was held for the Cheshire High School Class of 2020, that didn’t stop many in the community from honoring the graduates in their own, social-distancing way.

Signs were erected all along Route 10 with the names of each member of the Class of 2020, and several residents adorned their own front yards with signs congratulating individual students. On June 12, a “reverse parade” was held for graduates in front of Cheshire High School, as students and families drove through the parking lot to greet waving teachers, many of whom had brought signs of their own for the occasion.

A more traditional graduation ceremony is planned for early August, pending approval from municipal and public health officials at that time.
