The skies were bright during the day and clear at night, as Cheshire’s annual Lights of Hope community event was held for the 16th consecutive year.
The brainchild of Cheshire residents Don and Jenifer Walsh, Lights of Hope began as a neighborhood activity to promote unity and raise money for local charities, and has evolved into one of the biggest yearly town-wide activities for Cheshire.
In the afternoon, a ceremony is held on the green in front of First Congregational Church where checks are presented to various charities and organizations in town. Then, luminaries are set up along Route 10 and at various other sites around town. At light, those luminaries come to life, many of them communicating a positive message of hope and peace for the town, state, country and world.
