Polling/District Information Ahead Of Tuesday’s Primary

Polling/District Information Ahead Of Tuesday’s Primary

The following information was received from the Cheshire Registrar of Voters:

Your polling place, voting district, and representatives may have changed because of redistricting. Please check to see if your information has changed. If your polling place has changed, you will not be able to vote at the polling place where you previously voted.

How to confirm your correct polling place online:

•Go to the town website at www.cheshirect.org.

•Click on “Government” and find “Elections” under “Departments & Divisions.” There you will find your street under “Updated Street Listing with New Districts for 2022.” Your correct voting district will appear alongside your street. Be sure to check your exact street number if your street appears in more than one district.

•Next, click on “Information on Polling Places by District” for a full list of polling places for all districts and their addresses. Example: If you click on “Updated Street Listing with New Districts for 2022” and look up Abbey Court, you will see that it is located in District 3-2. Clicking on “Information on Polling Places by District” shows that voting for District 3-2 takes place at Artsplace, and lists local, state, and federal district information.

•A basic outline of Cheshire’s voting districts is also provided on the Elections Department webpage under “Map of Districts and Polling Places,” but it’s best to check the street listing for the most accurate information, especially if your address is near a borderline or on a street whose residences are not all in the same district.

For online assistance, you may email Elections Office staff members at the addresses on our webpage.

If you do not have access to a computer, we will be happy to provide your correct voting district and polling place if you call our office at (203) 271-6680 or visit us at Town Hall, 84 South Main Street.

Primary Election
Information

On Tuesday, Aug. 9, Cheshire voters who are registered with the Democratic or Republican parties will vote to choose candidates whose status on the November general election ballot has yet to be decided. Only members of the two major parties are eligible to vote in this election. The November general election is open to all registered voters, regardless of party affiliation.

All of the usual seven polling places will be open from 6 a.m. until 8 p.m. If you are eligible to vote on Aug. 9, your polling place may have changed since the last election because of redistricting. Please consult directions for confirming your correct polling place on the Elections Department webpage or call the office at (203) 271-6680. Detailed instructions on how to confirm the right polling place are being mailed to all Cheshire voters.
