Private Wreath-Laying Ceremony Set For Memorial Day

Private Wreath-Laying Ceremony Set For Memorial Day

The Cheshire Veterans Council and the Town of Cheshire will co-sponsor a Memorial Day wreath-laying ceremony on the Church Green on Memorial Day, Monday, May 25, at 2 p.m. A flyover by the Air National Guard may occur at that time.

The ceremony will last about 25 minutes and will be private, with just a small number of participants. Face masks for all involved in the ceremony will be provided to conform to state and federal requirements for protection from the coronavirus.

The public and others, such as veterans and the media, are asked not to attend because of public health restrictions on the size of public gatherings during the current pandemic.

Although the event be outdoors and visible to passing traffic, the Cheshire Police Department will ensure that no tie-ups occur from stopped motorists.

The event will be video-recorded for broadcast at a later time on Public Access TV Channel 15 and on social media.
