CHS Drama Club To Present “Antigone In Munich”

This December, Cheshire High School Drama will present “Antigone in Munich” by Claudia Haas.

The play dramatizes the real-life experiences of Sophie Scholl, a young woman who was “a member of the White Rose Society in Nazi Germany which encouraged passive resistance against the totalitarian government. Antigone in Munich chronicles her coming of age and development from bystander to witness to activist.” The play also takes as inspiration, Sophocles’ Greek tragedy “Antigone,” which asks audiences to consider, “what do you do when the laws of human individuals contradict the laws of the land?”

Audiences will likely be impressed as an expert cast and crew skillfully bring this powerful conflict to light onstage and into their hearts. Performances will run 75 mins with no intermission and audiences will be invited to talk with the students afterwards in a post-show talkback.

Tickets will be available at the door. Cost for senior citizens and students is $8, adults $10.  Showtimes will be Dec. 5, 6, and 7, at 7:30 p.m. in the CHS Thorp Auditorium, 525 South Main St.
