Cheshire High School 10th grader and Eagle Scout Connor Michaud from Troop 198 delivered the third Committee Flag Retirement Box to Cheshire Town Hall on Friday, March 17, as part of a community project.
Michaud delivered an initial box to The Notch Store in the fall of 2021, in time to celebrate the anniversary of the store. The second was made for R. W. Hine Ace Hardware in 2022, at the request of the owner.
Next, Michaud completed his Eagle Project for St. Peter’s Church, earning the rank of Eagle in August of 2022. Finally, on March 17, Michaud delivered his third flag box to Town Hall, where he was recognized by a few veterans in the Cheshire community as well as some town officials.
Troop 198 collects these flags and brings them to the VFW Meridian for proper retirement, which can include burying or burning the flags in the proper manner.
Fellow CHS student and Troop 198 Scout Ishan Patel helps to deliver the collected flags and transport them for proper retirement.
