Upcoming BOE Budget Meeting Schedule

Upcoming BOE Budget Meeting Schedule

Superintendent of Schools Jeff Solan will present his budget request to the Board of Education this evening at a special meeting. Solan will lay out what he and his staff believe to be the financial requirements for the upcoming year and what new funding is required from the Board.

This begins what will be approximately a month-long deliberation by the BOE over the budget, with each portion of Solan’s request being subject to scrutiny. The BOE will then make its final decision and transfer that recommendation to Town Manager Sean Kimball, who will determine whether further adjustments are necessary before sending the entire Town of Cheshire operating budget to the Town Council. The Council will make a decision on the final allocation of municipal funds in the early spring.

The Board of Education’s budget review schedule (subject to change) is as follows:

Tonight, Jan. 9, at 7:30 p.m. in Council Chambers at Town Hall – Budget presentation

Tuesday, Jan. 14, at 7 p.m. at Dodd Middle School – Budget review

Tuesday, Jan. 21, at 7 p.m. at Dodd Middle School – Budget review

Thursday, Jan. 23, at 7 p.m. at Dodd Middle School – Public informational meeting/budget review

Tuesday, Jan. 28, at 7:30 p.m. at Dodd Middle School – (If necessary) Special meeting to adopt budget

All meetings are open to the public. The BOE encourages all interested to attend.
