Visit the Senior Services page on the Town of Cheshire website at www.cheshirect.org/senior-services/senior-assistance-programs-and-services/ for links to information and application assistance for the following programs:
Medicare Savings Plan (MSP): Pays the Medicare Part B premium for eligible Connecticut Medicare Beneficiaries, gives qualified individuals Medigap coverage and automatically qualifies individuals for the Low Income Subsidy program that replaced ConnPACE.
Medigap (AKA Medicare Supplemental Polices): Medicare does not cover 100 percent of a medical event, thus many beneficiaries choose to purchase a Medigap or Medicare Supplemental policy. You must be enrolled in Medicare Parts A and B to be eligible.
Medicaid: Provides for remedial, preventive, and long-term medical care for the income-eligible aged, blind or disabled. “Home and community-based care” waivers allow for the provision of certain non-medical services in order to avoid more costly institutionalization of individuals.
Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP): Formerly known as the Food Stamp Program, SNAP is a nutrition program that helps low-income individuals and families buy food. SNAP also provides education about nutrition to help recipients choose foods that enhance their health and well being.
