Renters Rebate 2023
Applications

This is a reimbursement program for CT renters that are age 65 or older or disabled. Eligibility is based on income, rent, and utilities paid during the calendar year 2022. Renters Rebate amounts can be up to $900 for married couples and up to $700 for a single person. This program runs from April 1 to Oct. 1.

Bocce at Recreation Park in Plantsville Refreshments will be served. **Register in advance for all.

Say Goodbye to Summer Party

Wednesday, Sept. 20, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Wallingford Senior Center, 238 Washington St., Wallingford. We are sad to say goodbye to summer but are happy to celebrate with members of the Wallingford Senior Center. Come and enjoy fun dance music by The Coconuts, a comedy rock band.

The Coconuts will bring their special blend of music and humor to the center. They will have you singing, clapping, dancing, and laughing throughout the evening. All participants will receive an ice cream sundae. Cost: $10.00, transportation is available upon request. Registration is required by Sept. 15.

Nutrition Program

The Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program cards have arrived at the Senior Center and are being distributed to Cheshire residents, age 60 and over that qualify financially for this assistance program.

Flu shot clinic

Book your appointment today with Tracy to get your flu shot. Flu shot clinic at the Cheshire Senior Center Friday, Sept. 8, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Senior dine program – For senior residents ages 60 and older. if you are interested in learning more about the program, contact Coleen in our transportation office at 203-272-0047.

Special Programs

Afternoon Craft Thursday, Sept. 7, at 1:30 p.m. Join us for an afternoon of creating a Fall Rope Wreath. Materials will be provided. Cost is $ 7. Registration is requested.

Gourmet Ice Cream Social Tuesday, Sept. 12, at 2:30 p.m. Please join in a celebration of National Senior Center Month. We are excited to welcome back the Scoopologists from Ice Cream Emergency! Craft your own Ice Cream Sundae from the many flavors and toppings the Ice Cream Emergency truck has to offer. Registration is required, by Sept. 11. Cost $5.

The Pathway Through Grief programs will not be starting until Sept. 7, there will not be any meetings in August.

Line Dancing: Join us for a free, relaxed, instructional class in September on Line Dancing and other popular dances. Drop in welcome!

Free Memory Screenings – Wednesday, Sept. 13, from 1 to 3 p.m., by appointment only. Erica DeFrancesco from LiveWell Dementia Specialists is providing memory screenings by appointment only at the Cheshire Senior Center each month. Call 203-272-8286 to schedule.

Special Programs

Beginner Italian Fridays from 10 to 11 a.m. Have you ever wanted to speak Italian? Now is your chance with a 10 week course, Fridays from Sept. 15 to Dec. 1.

The course features the basics of reading, writing, understanding andspeaking Italian. Instructor, AndreaRenzoni Bascetta, is an experienced teacher who will use effective techniques to help participants succeed in a fun and interesting way.

There is no charge for this class but you must register in advance.
