Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont extended the closure of all non-essential businesses in the state until May 20, with the possibility of extending it further if necessary to contain the spread of COVID-19. Please note that the Cheshire Senior Center remains closed and registration for spring classes is NOT currently taking place. As of now, there is no proposed date to reopen the Senior Center.
Program updates are as follows:
•Transportation service remains suspended. The buses continue to be used for food pantry and mask deliveries. Call (203) 272-8286 if you are having difficulty accessing food or are in need of a mask.
•Updated resource lists are available. Call (203) 272-8286 if you are having difficulty accessing prescriptions, medical services, emergency transportation, or any community-based resources.
•Exercise classes are cancelled until further notice. Credits for the winter session will continue to be carried over through the next scheduled session.
•Telephone reassurance list is active. Library staff is assisting the Senior Center with telephone reassurance calls. Call (203) 272-8286 to have your name added to the list.
•The “Masks for Members” program is making and delivering masks to older residents upon request. Limit is one mask per person. Contact Stefanie Theroux at firstname.lastname@example.org or call (203) 272-3165 to request a mask.
•A COVID-19 Assistance Program is available for those who are in financial need as a direct result of the COVID-19 pandemic. For details, contact the Cheshire Human Services Department at (203) 272-6690.
