CHESHIRE – Irene McKinley, 92, passed away on Sunday, April 11, 2021, at the Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain. She was the wife of the late Robert H. McKinley.
Mrs. McKinley was born on April 16, 1928, in Norwalk, Conn., daughter of the late Joseph and Sarah Obuchowski. Early in her career, she worked for Nash Engineering Company in Norwalk. After her marriage to Bob, she dedicated her life to her husband and family. She was a full partner with her husband in all their business endeavors — Bob McKinley Construction Company and McKinley’s Christmas Tree Farm and Greenhouses, which they managed together for over half a century. In her spare time, she enjoyed ice skating, hiking the New Hampshire woods, and was extremely proud of her skill as a league bowler.
Mrs. McKinley is survived by her son John and his wife Olga McKinley of Cheshire; four daughters, Barbara and her husband Daniel Hedden of Cheshire, Donna and her husband Thomas Gagliardi of Las Vegas, Nev., Joan and her husband Gregory Boor of Bel Air, Md., and Ellen McKinley of Cheshire; seven grandchildren, Robert, Christine, and Patrick Hedden, Nicholas Benner, Benjamin Boor, and William and Jason McKinley. In addition to her parents, Irene was predeceased by her sisters, Stella Maxell, Marion Dziatkowski, Helen Williams and Regina Obuchowski, and her brother, Walter Obuchowski.
Arrangements – A graveside service for Mrs. McKinley was held on Friday, April 16, 2021, at 10 a.m., at St. Bridget Cemetery, Higgins Rd., Cheshire, Conn.
