CLERMONT, FLA. – Judith Ann Cunningham (Birge) of Kings Ridge in Clermont, Fla., and formerly Cheshire, Conn., passed away peacefully on Monday, May 24, 2021, at the Mike Conley Hospice House in Clermont, surrounded by her loving children.
Judy was born on January 11, 1937, in South Bend, Indiana, to the late Lewis and Julia (Quinn) Birge. She moved to Connecticut when she married her beloved husband of 55 years, David M. Cunningham, Sr., who predeceased her in 2013. In Cheshire, she was an active member of St. Thomas Becket Church, serving on the Parish Council and Women’s Club. She retired in 2004 as the Cheshire Democratic Registrar of Voters and moved to Clermont, Fla. In Clermont, she was active in the Kings Ridge Women’s Club, Irish American Club, Bunco and Farkel groups, and a Thursday night card group. Judy was also a member of the Clermont Women’s Club, Pink Ladies Breast Cancer Support Group, Midwesterners Club and Spicy Ladies of Aberdeen. Throughout her life, Judy devoted countless hours of her time volunteering for numerous organizations. She was most proud of 10 years of volunteer service helping the Mike Conley Hospice House in Clermont.
Judy is survived by her children, David M. Cunningham, Jr., (Mary Noel) of San Dimas, Calif.; Shaun Cunningham of Mary Esther, Fla.; Michele Kaplan (Sean) of Wolcott, Conn.; Marylou Cunningham of Cheshire, Conn.; and Katie Longley (Bill) of Southington, Conn.; her seven grandchildren, Alex, Carolyn, Connor, Katie, Tyler, Randi and Kristen; two great-grandchildren, Jonah and Noah; cousins; nieces and nephews; godson Craig; and many dear friends.
Friends joined a Mass of Celebration at St. Faustina Catholic Church in Clermont on Saturday, June 12, 2021. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Meriden, Conn., at the convenience of the family.
