CHESHIRE – Ralph A. Akowitz, 79, of Cheshire, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 20, 2021, at MidState Medical Center with his family by his side. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Louise Carpentino Akowitz, and his caring and loving daughter, Tina Akowitz, as well as his faithful companion, his dog Rexxie.
Ralph was born in Detroit, Michigan, on December 25, 1941, and was the son of the late Alphonse and Josephine Rozmus Akowitz. He was a graduate of Hamden High School, where he played on their baseball team, and then served in the U.S. Army Reserves. Ralph had worked in sales for Sears for 31 years. He enjoyed playing cards and enjoyed the outdoors, especially gardening.
He is also survived by his brother Donald Akowitz (Jane) and Alfred Akowitz (Margaret).
The visiting hours were held Saturday morning, May 22, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at The Havens Family, North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave. A Mass of Christian Burial followed in St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish at St. Therese Church, 555 Middletown Ave., North Haven, at 12 noon. Interment followed in All Saints Cemetery.
