On Saturday, Cheshire High School boys’ soccer used a fast start to fuel a 3-1 opening victory over Foran. Cheshire put up all of their three goals in a span of 3:12 in the first half and didn’t give up the lead.
Five minutes and 41 seconds into the game, the Rams struck first on the scoreboard. After senior quad-captain Samir Dishnica played the ball into the middle, junior Will Stearns sent a lob shot into the left corner.
Just 16 seconds later, Dishnica netted the second goal.
Senior quad-captain Muluken Marchand finished off the surge, converting on a shot with 31:07 remaining in the first half. Senior quad-captain Kevi Sulollari assisted on the play.
Foran rallied with 25:28 left in the first half, as sophomore Luke Hackett scored in traffic.
The Lions threatened again when senior Christian Boutote intercepted a pass, however junior goalkeeper Nolan Kappus (save) and senior quad-captain Colin Brown stepped in to block the ball at the right post.
In the second half, Cheshire had a chance to extend their lead on a corner kick by Dishnica, but the ball smacked off the inner left post.
This Tuesday, CHS travels to Veterans Stadium to play Notre Dame-West Haven (0-1) at 4 p.m.
