Three Cheshire High School girls’ sports teams will finish their fall seasons with state finals on Sunday.
CHS girls’ swimmers will compete in the State Open meet at Yale University’s Robert Kiphuth Memorial Exhibition Pool in New Haven. Start time is 2 p.m.
Also on Sunday, Cheshire will have a soccer doubleheader at Trinity Health Stadium in Hartford. First in the Class LL final at 4 p.m., CHS girls (top seed, 21-0-1) aim to clinch the program’s first unbeaten season against defending co-champion Staples (third seed, 15-2-4).
CHS last made the state title game in 2008, falling 1-0 to Trumbull in double overtime. The Rams won crowns in 2003 (1-0 over Fairfield) and 2005 (co-championship, 2-2 tie with Simsbury).
For the second local soccer final on Sunday at 6:30 p.m., Cheshire boys (top seed, 15-3-1) compete against Southern Connecticut Conference rival Xavier (second seed, 18-2-2) for the Class L crown. The Rams made the Class LL title game last year, but came up just short in a 3-2 loss to Farmington.
Cheshire captured the Class LL championship in 1988, winning 2-1 over Manchester.
