After a six-day break, Cheshire High School girls’ lacrosse (2-0) returned on Friday to win 13-4 over previously unbeaten Lauralton Hall (2-1). CHS went up 3-1 and then rode a 6-0 run into a 9-2 lead in the second half.
Senior tri-captain Taylor Warburton fueled the Rams early, scoring three of the opening four goals. For the game, she tied her personal-high total with four.
Also in the opening half, sophomore Alex Lucas scored twice and classmate Lauren Samela put in a goal and supplied an assist.
CHS ended the first half on a 3-0 run to up 6-2 and came back to start the second stanza with three more goals. In a span of a minute and four seconds in the second half, sophomore Sophia Surato and senior Hailey Beling put in their first goals.
To cap a transition sequence down the field, Surato converted on a pass from Lucas. With 14:00 remaining, Beling netted her first goal from junior Hannah Merritt to propel the Rams to a 12-3 advantage.
Along with assisting Surato, Lucas recorded a career-best four goals. In the second half, Harris tallied two goals and finished the game with a personal-high two assists.
Sophomore goalkeeper Audrey Bronson (three saves) and the Rams defense yielded only two goals in both halves.
Junior Morgan White led the Crusaders with two goals.
Cheshire comes right back to play on Saturday, hosting North Branford (1-1) at 1 p.m.
