On Friday, Cheshire High School girls’ swim and dive extended their dual-meet win streak to 71, winning 99-76 over Hamden in a virtual meet. At the Cheshire Community Pool, sophomore Avery Potyrala earned first place in four races. Senior tri-captain Sophie Murphy and senior Emma Glover were triple winners.
Individually, Potyrala sprinted to win the 100-yard freestyle (55.82) and came away victorious on all three relays. In the 200-yard medley, she teamed with freshman Julia Barto, Glover, and junior Kaitlyn Grove to win in 1:55.64.
Potyrala, Barto, and Glover combined with Murphy in the 200-yard freestyle race (1:42.04). In the 400-yard freestyle relay, Potyrala and Glover joined with senior Ava Breton and sophomore Julianna Tyler to earn first place (3:54.51).
Murphy was an individual winner in the 200-yard individual medley (2:11.17) and 100-yard breaststroke (1:10.95). Senior tri-captain Mary Barto captured the 500-yard freestyle (5:32.85) and classmate Nora Bergstrom claimed the 100-yard butterfly (1:03.47).
Senior tri-captain Natalie DeMatteo added first place in the one-meter dive (227.85).
On Monday, Cheshire has another virtual meet against Mercy. The Rams will compete from CCP at 3 p.m.
