CHS Girls' Swim And Dive Is Collecting Sneakers For A Good Cause

During September, Cheshire High School girls’ swim and dive and the Class of 2023 are running a Sneaker Drive fundraiser. Gently worn, used, and new sneakers will be donated to less fortunate countries.

Drop-off boxes have been placed at CHS, Chapman, Darcey, and Norton Schools, as well as Stop & Shop, the Cheshire Community Pool, the Cheshire Community YMCA, Cheshire Public Library, and Calcagni Real Estate.

This Saturday, there will also be a sneaker drive from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at CHS. Cars can pull up and juniors will take out donations.

For this project, Cheshire’s Laura Squillante is being assisted by junior athletes and parents, Cheshire’s Rosanne Tejeda, Principal Dr. Mary Gadd and CHS staff, Superintendent of Schools Jeffrey Solan, and community partners.

Junior swimmers Vanessa Squillante and Somya Gulati have taken leadership roles with the drive.

The Rams will earn funds based on the total amount of sneakers collected. Proceeds will go toward funding Senior Night on Oct. 17.
