On Tuesday, Cheshire High School girls visit Middletown for the Class LL swim final at Wesleyan University. Start time is 7 p.m.
In Saturday’s trials in East Hartford, Cheshire earned the top-two seed in five events. Individually, junior Sophie Murphy led the way in the 50- (23.92) and 100-yard (52.00) freestyles. She also teamed with junior Nora Bergstrom, senior Julia Stevens, and freshman Avery Potyrala to record the fastest time in the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:35.81).
Stevens (1:53.60, 5:02.50) and Bergstrom (1:55.05, 5:07.92) took the top spots in the 200- and 500-yard freestyles.
After winning Class L crowns in the last two seasons, the Rams moved up this year. CHS last won the LL title and beat rival Greenwich in 2009. Since that meet, Greenwich has claimed nine consecutive LL championships.
