On Tuesday, Cheshire High School girls’ tennis (6-4) moved their win streak to six matches, recording a 7-0 shutout of Sheehan (4-9).
Freshman Alex Orlins (6-0, 6-0), sophomore Anja Josef (6-2, 6-1), junior Asya Tarabar (6-0, 6-4), and freshman Eva Curran (6-2, 6-0) swept singles. Orlins improved to 9-0 this spring.
Junior Lila Watkinson and sophomore Riley Baldoni (6-2, 6-2), juniors Julia Hummel and Rachel Goldstein (6-1, 6-0), and junior Lizzy Klem and Arya Desai (6-3, 7-5) were victorious in doubles.
On Wednesday, the Rams play Daniel Hand (6-4) at 4 p.m.
Girls’ Lacrosse (8-5)
Cheshire lost 18-9 at Guilford (12-1). CHS came out fast to build a 4-1 lead on goals by senior tri-captain Hannah Merritt, junior Ava Harris, senior Tori Santi, and junior Alex Lucas.
Junior Ava Matikowski assisted on Santi’s goal.
However, Guilford responded with an 8-0 run to take the lead for good. Junior MJ Santa Barbara netted three straight goals in the spurt.
Harris and junior Lauren Samela netted goals in the final 2:30 of the opening half, but the Rams still trailed 11-6 at intermission.
In the second half, Harris put in her third goal and set up a tally for Merritt. Senior tri-captain Leah Black scored the last goal with 39.2 seconds left, but the Grizzlies used their depth to go 2-0 against CHS in the regular season. Santa Barbara (six) and seniors Maddie Epke (five) and Taylor Farace (four) combined to score 15 of Guilford’s 18 goals.
Junior goalkeeper Audrey Bronson made six saves for Cheshire.
On Friday, CHS welcomes Daniel Hand (9-5) for a game at 6 p.m. On April 22, Cheshire picked up a 11-8 win at the Surf Club in Madison.
Boys’ Golf (7-2)
At The Farms Country Club in Wallingford, the Rams posted a 165-203 victory over East Haven (7-4). Senior tri-captain Riley Brabant and sophomore Jack Brewster both shot a 40 to earn medalist.
Junior tri-captain AJ DePaolo (42) and senior tri-captain Nick Fortunato (43) also scored in the win.
On Thursday at Southington Country Club, CHS hosts Hamden at 2:15 p.m. In their April 18 opener, the Rams came away victorious 162-191 at Laurel View Country Club.
Girls’ Golf (7-2)
The Rams fell 188-209 to host Hall (11-1) at Rockledge Country Club. Junior Sydney Hidalgo (43) and senior Mackenzie Corcoran (48) led Cheshire.
Sophomore Sophia DelRosso, senior co-captain Rileigh Erickson, and freshman Olivia Beach posted a 59 each. Senior co-captain Maddie Falcone added a 61.
On Wednesday at 3 p.m. Cheshire faces St. Paul Catholic (8-1) at Southington Country Club.
Boys’ Volleyball (12-3)
CHS had a nine-match win streak snapped in a 3-0 loss (23-25, 14-25, 21-25) to Xavier (12-4). The Falcons secured a split of the series in the regular season.
For Cheshire, senior tri-captain Tim Nugent tallied 26 assists and three kills. Senior Jake Miller compiled six kills, three digs, and an assist. Junior Matt Irizarry recorded a career-high six digs.
On Wednesday, Cheshire visits Shelton (9-4) to compete at 6 p.m.
Outdoor Track and Field (Girls, 8-1; Boys, 2-7)
CHS girls took their first loss (95-55) to Shelton, but also beat host West Haven (110-46) in the dual-meet finale. Senior tri-captain Kira Zawalich (300-meter hurdles, 49.1), sophomores Alexa Ciccone (1,600-meters, 5:28.8), Darcy Lin (high jump, four feet, eight inches), Mia Vientos (800-meters, 2:29), and freshman Leah Farrell (400-meters, 63.1) were victorious individually.
Farrell, Ciccone, senior Meghan Georgescu, and Vientos teamed to win the 4x800-meter relay (10:12). Sophomore Squirrel Lanz, Farrell, Vientos, and Zawalich captured the 4x400-meter race (4:15).
Like the girls, CHS boys split with West Haven (84-63, win) and Shelton (102-48, loss). Senior quad-captain Robert DiNatale captured the 3,200-meters (10:39.1) and teamed with junior Michael DeJoseph, sophomore Tyler Caron, and junior Luca Borz-Baba to claim 4x800-meter relay (8:56.1).
On May 16, Cheshire athletes travel to New Haven’s Bowen Field for the Southern Connecticut Conference West Sectional at 12:30 p.m.

Boys’ Tennis (5-6)
The Rams travel to Wesleyan University to face host Xavier (4-9) at 3:45 p.m. On April 8, Cheshire earned a 4-3 victory over the Falcons.
The Rams host Notre Dame-West Haven (7-8) at 4 p.m. On April 18, the Green Knights defeated CHS, 9-7, at Quigley Stadium.
