CHS Girls’ Soccer And Girls’ Volleyball Teams Stay Unbeaten

On Thursday, Cheshire High School girls’ soccer improved to 2-0-1 with an 8-2 victory at Hamden (1-3). CHS built a 5-1 lead at halftime.

In netting the last two goals of the game, freshman Charlotte Dziura picked up her first points. Sophomore Abby Sink also scored twice, while her junior sister Ava contributed a goal and two assists.

Sophomore Carly Commune earned her first goal and point. Senior tri-captain Eva Fiala also found the back of the net for the first time.

Junior Leah Pisani added a goal, while classmate Sienna Morin picked up a career-best two assists. Senior tri-captain Ainsley Dziura and junior Theresa Zurolo also chipped in assists.

In her return to the lineup, senior goalkeeper Sophi Bates collected four saves.

On Sept. 18, CHS returns home to face Wilbur Cross (0-1) at 6 p.m.

Girls’ Volleyball (3-0)

The Rams also stayed unbeaten on Thursday. After needing to go five sets in their first two matches, Cheshire won 3-0 (25-11, 25-10, 25-14) over Foran (2-2).

Junior Kaelyn Fitzgerald posted a personal-best 14 assists, four digs, and two aces. Senior Caitlin Fanning and sophomore Marissa Mudry both earned six kills. Mudry’s tally was a personal record.

Senior Olivia Scotti recorded nine digs.

On Sept. 18, the Rams host East Haven (1-3) at 6:30 p.m.
