Cheshire Boys' Soccer Battles Rival To A Draw On Senior Night

In the final regular-season home game on Saturday, Cheshire High School boys’ soccer (10-2-1) played Fairfield Prep (8-2-5) to a 2-2 tie.

The Rams jumped ahead with 13:03 left in the first half. On a free kick, senior quad-captain Samir Dishnica booted the ball through a wall of Jesuit players into the right side of the net.

Fairfield drew even on a goal by freshman Joao Coutinho with nine minutes left in the first half, however just 34 seconds later, Cheshire retook the lead on a breakaway goal by senior quad-captain Colin Brown. Dishnica assisted Brown.

The Rams held the lead until the end of the game. CHS went into a defensive formation in the second half, but on a deflected shot, Fairfield senior Brando Savi scored to tie the game at 2-2 with 2:29 remaining.

At the other, senior quad-captain Muluken Marchand had a shot saved by Fairfield senior goalkeeper Nicolas Vittoria. After the Jesuits just missed on a shot in the final minute, the teams settled for the tie.
