On Saturday, Cheshire High School cross country opened the season in the 34th Wilton Invitational at Allens Meadows Park. In varsity action, CHS girls came in second place (114 points) and the boys’ team placed ninth (229).
For girls, senior tri-captain Alexa Ciccone earned sixth place (15:30.10). Senior tri-captain Mia Vientos (20th, 16:44.60), sophomore Emily D’Souza (28th, 17:08.60), freshman Sage Falcon (29th, 17:17.70), junior Eva Curran (31st, 17:18.30), and sophomore Ava Ciccone (40th, 17:40.90) also made the top-40 overall.
Freshmen Sarah Curran (52nd, 18:02.30) and Alexa Tirado (90th, 19:23.10) rounded out the lineup.
On the boys’ side, senior quad-captains Daniel D’Souza (22nd, 17:54.70), Tyler Caron (34th, 18:29.70), and Jack Lengyel (41st, 18:45.10), and junior James Boyd (42nd, 18:45.80) led the way. Senior quad-captain Brian Krzanowski (100th, 20:34) and sophomores Hanan Talipan-Pinedo (108th, 20:43.20) and Zachary Chasen (110th, 20:46.90) also competed for the Rams.
This Tuesday, the Rams will face Guilford, Notre Dame-West Haven, Sacred Heart Academy, and Wilbur Cross in the dual-meet opener at Cheshire Park. Start time is 4 p.m.
Boys’ Soccer
Cheshire was scheduled to open the season against Simsbury at Farmington Sports Arena, but due to thunder, lightning, and rain, the contest was called off.
This Tuesday, Cheshire travels to Fairfield University to compete against host Fairfield Prep (0-0-1) at 5 p.m.
