Cheshire Football Hosts Rival On Friday, Rams Prepare For Busy Saturday Slate


For their last home Friday night game of the season, Cheshire High School football plays North Haven at 7 p.m. Both teams enter with 5-1 records.

The Rams will also recognize their Best Buddies organization at the game.

Saturday’s varsity schedule:

Cross Country

Cheshire teams visit Manchester’s Wickham Park for the Class L races. To open the day, girls race at 9 a.m. and boys follow at 9:35 a.m.

Diving

Cheshire girls visit Wallingford to compete in the Southern Connecticut Conference meet at Sheehan. Start time is 10 a.m.

Field Hockey (Second seed, 11-4-1)

For the SCC quarterfinals, Cheshire faces Hamden (seventh seed, 6-10) at 11 a.m. On Oct. 17, the Rams won 2-0 at Hamden.

Girls’ Soccer (Top seed, 15-0-1)

In the SCC quarterfinals at 1:30 p.m., CHS meets Sacred Heart Academy (eighth seed, 9-6-1) for the third time this season. Cheshire won 2-0 on Oct. 27 in Hamden and then the rivals tied 6-6 on Wednesday at CHS.

Boys’ Soccer (Second seed, 11-2-1)

The Rams host Guilford (seventh seed, 11-3-2) in SCC quarterfinal action at 3:30 p.m. During their current eight-game unbeaten streak, Cheshire beat the Grizzlies, 2-1, on Oct. 1 and earned a 3-0 road victory on Monday.
