Crowley and Hogan Score First College Goals, Salamone Leads Colgate Field Hockey To Victory On Sunday


Over the weekend, 2019 Cheshire High School graduates Mikayla Crowley (mid-field) and Meaghan Hogan (forward) both earned their first college field hockey goals in victories. For Endicott College (Massachusetts) on Saturday, Hogan capped the scoring in a 4-0 shutout at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Another 2019 CHS grad, Jade Barnes is a freshman defender for Endicott Head Coach Jodi Cipolla. The Gulls (2-0) play in the Commonwealth Coast Conference.

On Sunday, Crowley helped Boston University (Massachusetts) win a thriller, 5-4, over Northeastern University. With the score tied at 1-1, Crowley put in her first goal at the 26:16 mark of the second quarter.

BU trailed 3-2 and 4-3 in the third quarter, but freshman Jodie Connolly (57:56) and junior Ailsa Connolly (58:56) scored the last two goals to get the home win. Sally Starr coaches BU (3-1) in the Patriot League.

A 2016 CHS graduate, Colgate University (New York) senior mid-fielder Nicole Salamone earned her first first multi-goal game in Sunday’s 4-3 overtime victory over Towson University. Towson jumped ahead 2-0, but Salamone contributed two goals and an assist to propel Colgate to the lead. Towson came back to tie the game at 3-3, but Colgate picked up the victory on a penalty stroke by junior Taylor Casamassa at the 60:48 mark.

With the win, Colgate improved to 2-2 under Head Coach April Cornell.
