Flames 13-U Claims CVFL Crown

The Cheshire Flames 13-U softball team won the Central Valley Fastpitch League 14-U Tournament held last Friday through Sunday at Cheshire High School.

The Flames went 1-2 in pool play to earn the seventh seed, but in the single-elimination round, the girls beat Cheshire Flames Black (7-1), Southington Thunder (10-1), and Wolcott Eagles (5-4) to claim the championship.

The title game against Wolcott was decided in an international tiebreaker. Lyla Blair and Avery Miramant drove in the final two runs for Cheshire, while Avery Radford was the winning pitcher.

Pitcher Callan Fleming picked up the victory in the semifinals. Her sister Molly caught all of the games.

With season’s end, the Flames are rebranding as the Connecticut Charge.
