Rams Girls' Volleyball Picks Up Eighth Consecutive Win On The Road


On Thursday, Cheshire High School girls’ volleyball (16-2) extended their win streak to eight matches, posting a 3-0 victory (25-18, 25-14, 26-24) at Daniel Hand (5-12) in Madison. CHS swept the regular-season series.

After winning the first set, the service of senior Alex Lucas allowed the Rams to gain separation in game two. Sophomore Eva Catalanotto clinched the frame with a kill.

Hand threatened in the third set, building a 22-14 advantage, however senior tri-captain Avery Mola served on an 8-0 run to tie the game.

Hand won the next two points to go up 24-22, but CHS claimed the last four points to end the match. Cheshire erased Hand’s game points with kills by Catalanotto and senior Kat Ulicki.

Mola compiled 14 kills, a block, and a dig. Senior setter Mimi Perlini tallied 22 assists, five digs, and an ace.

Catalanotto recorded seven kills, while Lucas had four kills and three digs. On her birthday, junior Mary Nugent had eight assists, three digs, and two aces.

Senior tri-captain Lizzie Braun supplied three aces, two digs, and two kills.

On Oct. 24, the Rams travel to play Branford (9-7) at 5:30 p.m. On Sept. 28, the Rams held on to win 3-2 over the Hornets.

Friday’s varsity slate:

Girls’ Swim and Dive (11-1)

Winners of four straight dual meets, Cheshire ends the regular season against host Amity (10-2) at High Plains Community Center in Orange. Start time is 6:45 p.m.

Football (4-1)

Cheshire comes home to face Notre Dame-West Haven (4-1) at 7 p.m.
