Cheshire High School girls’ lacrosse (7-1) extended their win streak to four games on Thursday, earning a 21-2 victory over North Haven (0-8). The Rams took an 8-0 halftime lead and allowed a season-low goal total in the victory.
Senior tri-captains Reagan Bailey (two assists) and Taylor Warburton (four assists) both netted five goals for the Rams. Warburton set a personal-best assist total and tied her career high for points with nine.
For her final goal with 12:41 left in the game, Bailey scored on a free-position shot to secure her 100th career goal.
Sophomore Ava Matikowski tied a career high with two goals. Classmate Lauren Samela contributed two goals and an assist, while sophomore Alex Lucas supplied a goal and two assists.
Sophomore Taya Buntin (assist) and junior Izzy Dziura both scored their first goals. Junior Hannah Merritt and sophomores Ava Harris, Clara Dempsey, and Sophia Surato also scored. Sophomore Autumn Mitchell recorded her first point (assist) in the final seconds. Senior Hailey Beling also chipped in an assist.
Sophomore goalkeeper Audrey Bronson compiled five saves. Junior Danielle Melius came off the bench to protect the net in the second half.
On Saturday, the Rams kick off a five-game road trip against undefeated New Canaan (5-0) at 1 p.m.
Boys’ Lacrosse (5-1)
After dropping their first game, 12-9, to Staples on Tuesday, the Rams bounced back to win 18-7 over host Notre Dame-West Haven (3-4) at Veteran's Stadium. Cheshire took control early, building a 7-2 lead in the first quarter.
Sophomore Charles Kurtz posted four goals and tied his personal-high assist total with three (assist). Junior Jason Raba recorded a career-best four goals.
Senior co-captain Brian Bouwman (goal) and senior Jack Lovelace (two goals) both earned a career-high four assists.Like Lovelace, seniors PJ Cass and Evan Stern and junior Max Manware all recorded two goals.
Senior Jack Davis supplied a goal and sophomore Jack Wable picked up his first assist/point. Junior Andrew Benjamin added an assist.
Senior Aidan Gaudet won 21 of 28 face-offs. Senior goalkeeper Andrew Vernon made nine saves and sophomore Connor Atwater supplied two saves off the bench.
On Saturday, the Rams visit Fairfield University to face host Fairfield Prep (5-2) at 6 p.m.

Cheshire hosts Hamden (3-6) at 4 p.m. For Senior Day, co-captains Dee Floyd, Gracie Hemstock, Bri Pearson, Trinadey Santiago, and Ella Watson, as well as Brigid Borland, Emma Glover, and Kailey Sweigard, will be honored at 3:30 p.m.
In the first meeting on April 12, CHS earned a 17-1 road win at Hamden.
The Rams play Sheehan (5-4) at 4 p.m. Back on April 12, the Titans outlasted Cheshire to win 4-3 in eight innings.
Girls’ Tennis (2-5)
CHS hosts Amity (8-0) at 4 p.m. On April 10, the Spartans opened the year with a 7-0 win over CHS.
Boys’ Volleyball (5-2)
Winners of four straight matches, Cheshire travels to play Norwich Free Academy (2-5) at 5:15 p.m.
