Editor, The Cheshire Herald:
We were impressed with the fascinating article by Diane Calabro entitled “Town Green Central To Cheshire’s History” and have her permission to add this Addendum:
Back in the early 1940’s, the Cheshire Garden Club worked with Town officials, State High Department representatives, landscape architects and engineers, as well as Cheshire First Congregational Church elders, to sponsor the restoration of the plantings on the Town Green. It was so successful that the 9,000 member-strong state organization, The Federated Garden Clubs of Connecticut, bestowed the Cheshire Garden Club with the Bronze Medal, their highest honor award for this worthy civic achievement.
