Salamone Not What 103rd Needs In Hartford

Salamone Not What 103rd Needs In Hartford

Editor, The Cheshire Herald

In your article regarding police endorsements, printed in the Aug. 28 edition of The Cheshire Herald, Pam Salamone, a candidate for State Representative stated she “fears it will lead to defunding the police.” This ridiculous statement underscores exactly why Ms. Salamone is completely unqualified to be elected — she should know that state law does not provide funding for municipal police departments; only local governing bodies such as our Town Council can do that.

Besides her lack of experience and knowledge regarding the budgetary process and the role of state government, Ms. Salamone has regurgitated far-right talking points which have no basis in reality for the purpose of further division amongst our residents. I myself and many residents are sick and tired of politicians profiting off division, and sharing fallacies to dupe the American public into fearing the very thing which truly makes America great — diversity of people and opinion. We don’t need more lies. We don’t need more hatred. We don’t need Pam Salamone.
